Mo Farah is one of the most famous sportspeople in the UK. You don’t need to bet on sports regularly or be an expert of distance running to recognise the four-time Olympic gold medallist.

The Mobot was a highlight of the 2012 London Olympics. The success in his home Games was just a chapter in a long story of Farah’s career. There’s been success, heartache, controversy and everything in between.

Born in Somalia, Farah was a refugee in Djibouti before moving to join his father in the UK at just eight years old. While working in McDonald’s, Farah’s athletic talent was spotted by his PE teacher.

Despite dreams of playing for Arsenal, it was running where Farah really excelled, and he represented Hounslow in cross-country and the London Youth Games in 1996.

Farah experienced a unique journey from refugee to become one of the Team GB athletes to watch at multiple Olympic games.

Mo Farah Net Worth

The range of Mo Farah net worth estimations is considerable. Some sites come in at over £10 million. Others are down at £3 million.

While athletics isn’t lucrative compared to many other sports, Farah’s status and success has brought various other revenue opportunities.

Nike, Lucozade and Quorn are just three of Farah’s endorsement partners. He has been the face of high-profile marketing campaigns for all three.

Figures of these deals haven’t been made public, though the iconic distance runner has been in a strong negotiating position through most of his career.

With such fame can come unwanted publicity, and Mo Farah was on the end of this in 2019 when Diamond Mist Eliquids ran an advert with an uncanny resemblance to him.

This carried the line ‘Mo’s mad for menthol’ with an image of a bald man’s eyes and eyebrows, looking remarkably similar to the Olympics hero.

Farah was quick to point out this wasn’t a partnership with him. He tweeted, “You may have seen this ad & think it’s me!! I can assure you that I have NOT endorsed this product or company!!!! We’re looking into it.”

The Advertising Standards Authority ultimately upheld Farah’s complaints.

They said, "Overall, we considered that the ad was likely to give consumers the misleading impression that the product had been endorsed by Sir Mo Farah. We therefore concluded that the advert breached the code.”

Is Mo Farah Married?

Tania Nell is Mo Farah’s wife. The couple have three children together; twin girls Amani and Aisha were born in August 2012, and their son Hussein arrived three years later.

The couple had been together for a long period when they tied the knot in April 2010 in Richmond. Several other British athletes were at the ceremony, including Paula Radcliffe, Steve Cram and Jo Pavey.

Diet & Lifestyle

The collaboration with Quorn led many to believe Mo Farah is vegetarian. He’s not vegetarian or vegan – tuna and chicken make up a considerable part of his diet.

Obviously, Mo Farah’s diet alters depending on his training schedule and competition.

If preparing for one of the most watched sports events like the London marathon, Farah will load up on a couple of coffees in the hours before the race, and his intake of carbohydrates will increase in the days before.

He has previously spoken about having lots of smaller meals throughout the day rather than breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Runners World ran an article with quotes from Farah about his diet in January 2022, however, suggesting a more standard meal routine on a normal training day.

He said, “Before a session, I’d get two rounds of bread – some toast – and maybe a bit of porridge, three hours or maybe less before a long run.

"Then in the afternoon I’d probably have a tuna sandwich or a chicken sandwich, and then in the evening have a spaghetti Bolognese and a bit of salad – just a combination of carbs and protein.”

London 2012

Mo Farah capped off Super Saturday at London 2012. His gold medal in the 10,000 metres with a time of 27:30.42 was the third for Team GB in the session as he became the first British runner ever to win gold in the 10,000. His training partner won silver.

Seven days later, Farah completed an historic long-distance double, winning the 5,000 metres in 13:41.66. The Olympic Stadium reached a crescendo in the 5,000, literally shaking the photo-finish camera.

Earlier that year, with a helping hand from Clare Balding and James Corden, the Mobot was created. This celebration, creating an ‘M’ on Mo’s head, is one of the eternal images from the London Olympics.

Farah built on his London success in Rio, coming out on top in Olympics betting tips once again to defend both of his titles.
