Betting on golf works just like any other sports bet. Here’s a quick rundown:
A six-shooter bet is where a bookmaker groups six golf players together. You can then place a bet on the one you believe will perform best from that group. In golf, this means the player with the lowest score when the tournament ends.
As this is a separate competition, the overall results of the tournament doesn’t matter. If the score is tied, ‘dead heat’ applies. See our betting rules for more information.
Similar to six-shooter, 3-Ball places three players in a group and you bet on the one you think will have the lowest score by the end of the competition. This grouping can be three players who start the tournament together, or three players randomly selected across the groupings.
It doesn’t matter where your player places overall in the tournament, only that they place higher than the other two in that group.
Sometimes a bookmaker may offer a bet referred to as ‘Field’. This is all the other players not included in the sportsbook, who might be called the underdogs of the competition.
This way, you bet on more than one golfer in a single wager. However, these players also have the lowest chance of winning, so it may be considered more unlikely to come off.
