Croatia have upset the sports betting markets in each of the last two World Cups. Despite their deep runs in Russia and Qatar, expectations are relatively low this summer, with the core of those two teams far past their respective peaks.

Paired up with England, Ghana and Panama, Croatia fans will expect their team to advance to the knockout stage but who knows how deep into the tournament they will go. Expecting another semi-finals run would be a tad much, if truth be told.

What is the average salary for Croatia players?

The average salary in the Croatia World Cup squad is around £45,000. There are some super-highly paid stars in the group, like Luka Modrić and Joško Gvardiol, but there are also some players that will be on less than £20,000 per week.

Goalkeeper Ivor Pandur and FC Dallas’ Petar Musa are considered two of the lowest earners in the 26-man squad.

Who are the top earning players for Croatia?

On around £200,000 per week, Gvardiol is the highest-earning player in Croatia’s squad. The defender is a regular for Manchester City and one of the best players in the world in his position.

Modrić is on a comparatively tiny £108,000 after taking a pay cut to join Milan from Real Madrid. Mateo Kovačić is on a meagre £150,000 per week, and Bayern Munich’s Josip Stanišić is on a similar amount to Modrić.

How much does the Croatia manager earn?

In charge of Croatia since 2017, Zlatko Dalić is on approximately £1.3 million per year. Dalić has enjoyed immense success in charge of an immensely talented generation of players, taking Croatia to the World Cup final in 2018 and earning a third-place finish four years later.

His pedigree when he took the job was relatively limited, but Dalić has ensured he won’t be short of job offers if he chooses to return to club management.
