Louis Veron
LOUIS VERON created an excellent impression in defying a penalty at Stratford last month and with the performance supported by the timefigure, it's reasonable to assume an opening mark in the mid-120s could seriously underestimate him, especially given the potential for further improvement. High Fibre is interesting for a yard with an excellent recent record in the race following an encouraging stable debut on the Flat, while Newtown Rambler is another to note from his lower hurdles mark.

Looks a useful prospect, creating an excellent impression in defying a penalty at the first time of asking in 10-runner novice at Stratford (19f) last month, quickening clear without coming off the bridle. Opening mark could easily underestimate him.DateCourseDistGoingTypePosStratford-on-avon2m 2f 148yGood (Good to Firm in places)Hurdle1/10Warwick2mGood (Good to Firm in places)Hurdle1/7Southwell1m 7f 182yGoodHurdle2/7Chepstow2m 11yGood to SoftHurdle2/15- 13High FibreJ: Sean BowenT: James Owen56125-5Age 710/310/37/2

First handicap success over hurdles at Kempton (2m, good) in March and went close off the same mark at Ludlow (2m) a week later. Not so good next 2 starts but made an encouraging stable debut back on the level when third in 1½m handicap at York last week. Stepped up on yard debut to record a second win over hurdles at Warwick (2m) in March. Pulled up at Ayr next time but most progressive back chasing since, completing a hat-trick in game fashion at Uttoxeter (2m) just under 3 weeks ago. Showed no ill-effects from a 17-month absence when sweeping from last to first in 9-runner handicap hurdle (7/2) at Perth (2½m, good) in April. 6 lb higher mark to contend with but clearly capable fresh.DateCourseDistGoingTypePosPerth2m 4f 35yGood (Good to Soft in places)Hurdle1/9Cheltenham2m 87yGood (Good to Soft in places)Hurdle11/15Cheltenham2m 3f 200yGoodHurdle4/13Chepstow2m 11yGood to SoftHurdleur/11Worcester2m 4fSoftHurdle3/12- 10SqueezeboxJ: Stan SheppardT: Tom Lacey151-1Age 710/110/19/1

Fair Flat winner who has made a fine start to his hurdling career, winning 2 of his 3 starts in novice company last summer/autumn. Strong-travelling sort who had solid form behind Alexei and Tutti Quanti prior to a career-best success in the Sussex Champion Hurdle at Plumpton (2m). A winner on hurdling debut in France who shaped well on the back of a breathing operation when runner-up on handicap bow at Ascot in late March, closing all the way to the line having been left with a lot to do. Teed up by a run on the Flat when landing the Swinton at a big price at Haydock in May. Followed up back on the level at Kempton later in the month and seems well placed to better his mid-field finish in this last year.DateCourseDistGoingTypePosKempton Park1m 7f 218yStandard / SlowFlat1/11Haydock Park1m 7f 144yGood (Good to Soft in places)Hurdle1/16Southwell1m 6f 21yStandardFlat4/8Chepstow2m 3f 100yGoodHurdle9/14Lingfield Park1m 4fStandardFlat6/9- 8Morning MayhemJ: Kielan WoodsT: Nick Scholfield313-414Age 520/128/122/1

Free-going sort whose losing run is mounting but he chased home a useful pair at Sandown in January. Fairly useful staying handicapper on the level who made a smooth transition to hurdling last season, winning 4 times. Made all in a 2m Catterick claiming hurdle on final start for Jennie Candlish (changed hands for £12,000). Disappointed first 2 starts for current yard (including on the Flat) but bounced back to form reverting to hurdling when second of 4 over C&D last month. This is more competitive, however.DateCourseDistGoingTypePosMarket Rasen2m 125yGoodHurdle2/4Bangor-on-dee2m 1f 77yGood (Good to Soft in places)Chasepu/6Southwell1m 3f 23yStandardFlat9/9Catterick Bridge1m 7f 156yGood (Good to Soft in places)Hurdle1/8Catterick Bridge2m 3f 66ySoft (Heavy in places)Hurdle2/8- 7CharlusJ: Tristan DurrellT: Dan Skelton2FP0P-5Age 550/150/140/1

Yet to fire for Dan Skelton, though settled better than usual following a breathing operation at Newton Abbot on most recent outing and may come on for the run given it was his first start in 12 weeks.DateCourseDistGoingTypePosNewton Abbot2m 167yGood (Good to Firm in places)Hurdle5/5Aintree2m 103yGood to Soft (Good in places)Hurdlepu/21Cheltenham2m 4f 56yGood to Soft (Soft in places)Hurdle22/24Kempton Park2m 5fGood to Soft (Soft in places)Hurdlepu/9Clonmel2m 202yHeavy (Soft to Heavy in places)HurdleF/5
