Alcarath
Although ALCARATH was a beaten favourite on his Redcar handicap debut in November his easy defeat of Rosebery winner Gamrai in an Epsom novice prior to that is an eyecatching piece of form on which he looks well treated. He's taken to resume his progression and prove too strong for recent Craven meeting winner Mister Winston. The shortlist is completed by Bullet Point, who is 2-2 on the Rowley Mile, and Botanical.

Largely progressive last year and improved again back from a gelding operation when making a successful reappearance in a 1m course handicap 18 days ago. Did that quite readily and a 5 lb penalty shouldn't prevent another bold bid.DateCourseDistGoingTypePosNewmarket (rowley)1mGoodFlat1/10Newmarket (rowley)1m 1fGood to FirmFlat15/23Goodwood1mGood to Firm (Good in places)Flat4/11Newmarket (july)1mGood to FirmFlat1/6Newmarket (july)1mGood to FirmFlat4/7- 1(6)Bullet PointJ: Tom MarquandT: William Haggas122170-Age 511/211/26/1

Dual course scorer who progressed into a smart handicapper last year. Failed to fire in a Group 3 at York and listed race in Australia on his final 2 outings but much better can be expected back in a handicap from a gelding who won on his 2025 reappearance.DateCourseDistGoingTypePosRosehill1m 209yGoodFlat10/11York1m 177yGood to Firm (Good in places)Flat7/8York7f 192yGood to Firm (Good in places)Flat1/17Ascot1mGood (Good to Firm in places)Flat2/17Ascot1mGood to FirmFlat2/30- 4(12)Fifth ColumnJ: William BuickT: John & Thady Gosden15100-0Age 46/16/111/2

Progressed last season, winning 4 times, including a major handicap at the York Ebor meeting. Respectable eleventh of 24 in Spring Cup at Newbury (1m, good) on reappearance 14 days ago. Classy sort who made a promising start for new trainer Karl Burke when fourth of 21 in the Lincoln at Doncaster (1m, good to soft) 5 weeks ago. One to be interested in for good handicaps and is a strong-travelling prominent racer who should take well to this C&D.DateCourseDistGoingTypePosDoncaster1mGood to Soft (Soft in places)Flat4/21Doncaster1m 2f 43ySoftFlat5/9Epsom Downs1m 2f 17yGood to Soft (Good in places)Flat8/13Kempton Park1m 1f 219yStandard / SlowFlat5/8Doncaster1mGood to SoftFlat3/9- 6(8)ErzindjanJ: Ray DawsonT: T. Some good efforts in handicaps last year, notably his fourth of 23 in Cambridgeshire over C&D (good to firm), running on strongly after being hampered, finishing first home by wide margin in stand-side group. Fourth in John Smith's Cup on last season's reappearance so capable when fresh.DateCourseDistGoingTypePosNewmarket (rowley)1m 2fGood to SoftFlat8/10York1m 2f 56yGoodFlat5/14Newmarket (rowley)1m 1fGood to FirmFlat4/23York1m 2f 56yGood to Firm (Good in places)Flat7/15York1m 2f 56yGood to Firm (Good in places)Flat4/18- 12(10)AlcarathJ: Rob HornbyT: Alan King4214-Age 48/18/19/1

Got off mark in emphatic fashion when easily seeing off Gamrai (who won competitive Rosebery Handicap on return) in 1¼m Epsom novice (good) last September. Possibly not fully over those exertions when fourth in 1¼m Redcar handicap final start. Well worth another chance to show he's on a good mark.DateCourseDistGoingTypePosRedcar1m 2f 1yGood (Good to Soft in places)Flat4/9Epsom Downs1m 2f 17yGoodFlat1/5Salisbury1m 1f 201yGood to Soft (Soft in places)Flat2/6Kempton Park1mStandard / SlowFlat4/9- 7(11)The Lost KingJ: P. Largely progressive form in 2025, including runner-up in ultra-competitive 3-y-o handicaps at the July meeting here and Glorious Goodwood. Has recorded a couple of respectable mid-field finishes in 1¼m handicaps this year but needs a full-scale revival with cheekpieces added.DateCourseDistGoingTypePosPontefract1m 2f 5yGood (Good to Firm in places)Flat5/8Kempton Park1m 2f 219yStandard / SlowFlat6/13Newmarket (rowley)1m 1fGood to FirmFlat19/23York1m 2f 56yGood to Firm (Good in places)Flat8/15Goodwood1m 1f 197yGood (Good to Firm in places)Flat2/18- 11(7)Al ArbeedJ: Sean LeveyT: Richard Hannon3447-65Age 414/118/116/1

Inspired buy by connections, including a win in the 2023 Cambridgeshire over C&D, but not seen since a mid-field finish in the John Smith's Cup at York in July 2024. Has had a breathing operation.
