Blow Your Wad
Not the strongest renewal of the Oaksey Chase, and BLOW YOUR WAD, who has been in the form of his life for the Moores of late, probably won't need to better his recent efforts to come out on top. Doyen Quest has quickly developed into a smart chaser this season and is entitled to strip fitter for his recent run at Aintree which came after a break. Matterhorn should have no problem with the extra 2f and warrants respect, too.

Won Grade 2 novice chase at Kempton in 2023/24. Lightly raced since but has proven better than ever for new yard, finishing an excellent fourth in the Ultima before gaining a deserved success in 6-runner handicap at Chepstow (19f, good). Has a leading chance at the weights.DateCourseDistGoingTypePosChepstow2m 3f 98yGood to Soft (Good in places)Chase1/6Cheltenham3m 1fGood to SoftChase4/22Newbury2m 3f 187yGood to SoftChase2/11Ascot2m 5f 13yGood to Soft (Soft in places)Chase3/6Ascot2m 7f 185yGood to Soft (Soft in places)Chase7/12- 3Doyen QuestJ: Harry SkeltonT: Dan Skelton1421224Age 85/22/19/4

Useful hurdler who quickly developed into a smart chaser this season, putting his proving fitness and chasing experience to good use to score at Exeter (3m) in November. Has acquitted himself well in graded company since, possibly needing the run after 11 weeks off at Aintree on most recent outing.DateCourseDistGoingTypePosAintree3m 210yGood to Soft (Good in places)Chase4/8Windsor3m 60ySoftChase2/6Sandown Park3m 37yGood to Soft (Good in places)Chase2/4Exeter3m 54yGoodChase1/4Chepstow2m 3f 98yGood to Firm (Good in places)Chase2/4- 6MatterhornJ: Harry CobdenT: Paul Nicholls992-1P2Age 811/211/25/1

Won first 4 starts in handicap chases in 2024 and back on the up with a bang last spring, easily winning 2½m Uttoxeter handicap. Showed nothing at Ascot in December but got back on track when beaten only by a younger rival at Plumpton (17f) 4 months later. Must be respected on this first try at 2¾m.DateCourseDistGoingTypePosPlumpton2m 219yGoodChase2/5Ascot2m 2f 181yGood to Soft (Soft in places)Chasepu/9Uttoxeter2m 4fGood (Good to Soft in places)Chase1/8Plumpton2m 214yGoodChase2/10Newbury2m 3f 187yGood (Good to Soft in places)Chase9/9- 5Mahons GloryJ: Lee EdwardsT: Dylan Cunha2245216Age 109/19/110/1

Capitalised on drop in grade when making all at Huntingdon in March and shaped better than the distance beaten suggests back in a more competitive environment when sixth of 27 in the Topham Chase at Aintree on latest start, having been ridden too aggressively. No easy at the weights here, though.DateCourseDistGoingTypePosAintree2m 5f 19yGood to SoftChase6/27Huntingdon2m 3f 189yGood to SoftChase1/6Market Rasen2m 5f 89ySoft (Good to Soft in places)Chase2/8Aintree3m 1f 188ySoftChase5/13Aintree2m 5f 19yGood to SoftChase4/17- 4EtalonJ: Tristan DurrellT: Dan Skelton-529134Age 912/112/114/1

Responded well to a combination of cheekpieces and an attacking ride when landing the biggest pot of his career at Ascot (19f) in December. Ran at least as well in defeat back there next time and not knocked about once held at Kempton on most recent outing. Worth a shot at this.DateCourseDistGoingTypePosKempton Park2m 4f 110yGood to Soft (Soft in places)Chase4/9Ascot2m 5f 13ySoftChase3/9Ascot2m 2f 181yGood to Soft (Soft in places)Chase1/9Newbury2m 92yGood to SoftChase9/10Fontwell Park2m 3f 104yGood to Soft (Good in places)Chase2/7- 1Teddy BlueJ: Paul O'BrienT: Harry Derham-17531PAge 820/120/118/1

Still not totally straightforward but better than ever when also winning 7-runner handicap at Kempton last month, responding well to pressure having looked held 4 out. However, let down by his jumping when pulled up in the Topham and is up against it on these terms.DateCourseDistGoingTypePosAintree2m 5f 19yGood to SoftChasepu/27Kempton Park2m 4f 110yGood (Good to Soft in places)Chase1/7Newbury2m 3f 187yGood to SoftChase3/11Musselburgh2m 4f 68yGood to Soft (Soft in places)Chase5/8Ascot2m 172yGood to SoftChase7/10- Non-Runners

Opened his account over fences in minor event at Auteuil (2¾m) last May but has been badly out of sorts since, including over hurdles and faces a very stiff task at the weights setting out for a new yard (formerly with M.
