Newly promoted players are rarely in the discussion when it comes to FPL captain picks.

Such players can be a fantasy football goldmine, however, whether finding the next Teemu Pukki or landing a bargain defender.

Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth and Fulham are the Premier League newbies in 2022-23. Bournemouth and Fulham are stacked with familiar faces, while Forest present a raft of new names for FPL bosses to ponder.

They might be the preseason online betting favourites for relegation, but that doesn’t stop the promoted sides producing some valuable FPL picks.

Dominic Solanke

After flopping at Liverpool and disappointing during his time in the Premier League with Bournemouth, Dominic Solanke had a breakout year in 2021-22.

His 15 goals and eight assists in the season prior were impressive, but the former Chelsea academy star scored 29 times in the Championship last season.

The question now is whether Solanke can keep that up in the top flight or if he becomes the latest in a long line of prolific Championship strikers who can’t cut it in the Premier League.

He’s definitely worth keeping an eye on this season, though. The £6 million price could be a bargain, and Bournemouth have a favourable run of fixtures from gameweek five.

Jesse Lingard

Part-time TikTok star and occasional footballer Jesse Lingard stunned the Premier League by signing a one-year deal with Nottingham Forest.

An easy punching bag, Lingard’s ability on the pitch has often been overlooked.

But it’s only one season since Lingard broke the 100-point mark. He’s a proven goal scorer from midfield, and can be a threat running from deep in this Forest side.

Having been included in our preseason FPL predictions, the former Manchester United man was a lock for this list.

Harry Wilson

Not many have high hopes for Fulham in Premier League predictions.

If they are to be competitive in 2022-23, however, it will likely depend on the performances of Harry Wilson.

The Welshman scored seven times in his last top flight campaign and notched a double-double in the Championship last term.

A price of just £6 million should pique the interest of FPL managers. Look to move for Wilson around mid-September when Fulham’s schedule takes a turn for the better after a rough start.

Philip Billing

Seasoned FPL managers might be surprised to see Philip Billing included here.

He was a non-factor previously, scoring just three times and providing one assist in three Premier League seasons.

Billing’s role has changed since Bournemouth suffered relegation, though, and he’s now a productive attacking force.

Eight goals and four assists in 2020-21 set the foundation for Billing to reach double figures in both goals and assists last term. He’s worth consideration at £5.5 million.

Scott McKenna

Forest conceded five fewer goals than any other Championship team from October onwards.

Scott McKenna is expected to be a regular starter once again in 2022-23, and he’s got the potential to notch a few goal contributions after two goals and three assists in 2021-22.

It’s worth waiting to see how Forest look, but if you fancy an early gamble on their defence holding up, McKenna is a good option.
