Horse Betting Tips For Friday

Steve Mullington with his best racing tips, with a NAP, a NB and a Longshot running at York, Thirsk and Uttoxeter...

7.50 York - Verbier (NAP)

Frankel-filly Verbier can get back to winning ways in the Listed 1m2½f British EBF Lyric Fillies' Stakes at York on Friday evening.

A winner on her debut at Wolverhampton in March 2023, she has never failed to finish out of the first four in any of her six career starts to date.

She was extremely unlucky to go down by a neck to Mahboob last December at Lingfield and she ran a cracker on her turf debut at Ayr in the Rothesay Stakes.

Her run in the Fred Archer was pretty disappointing but I am expecting her to bounce back over this slightly shorter trip.

Danger: Dora Milaje

4.20 Thirsk – South Parade (NB)

Beaten just a length at Carlisle twenty days ago, South Parade can go one better and lift this 6f Fillies Handicap at Thirsk.

Owned by the Ebor Racing Club, trainer Richard Fahey has found a nice opening here for this daughter of Invincible Army and if she builds upon her Carlisle effort then she should go close.

The three-year-old is learning her trade at a rate of knots and she looks extremely well treated off bottom weight in my opinion.

Danger: Canaria Queen

3.20 Uttoxeter - Hiconic (E/W Longshot)

The thoroughly consistent Hiconic can reward each-way players once again in the Alby Handicap Hurdle at Uttoxeter.

In what is a very compact handicap, Alex Hales’ seven-year-old at least gets weight from 13 of the 16 assembled runners and jockey Kielan Woods can take full advantage of that positive factor.

The mare has been a wonderful servant to her connections thus far, winning 6 of her 36 starts and placing on nine other occasions. I cannot see any reason why she shouldn’t finish in the frame at the very least.

Danger: Copper Beach

Horse Betting Tips For Saturday

Steve Mullington with his best racing tips, with a NAP, a NB and a Longshot running at York, Ascot and Chester on Saturday...

3.15 York – Passenger (NAP)

Ruled out of the Prince of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot due to an infection, the Sir Michael Stoute-trained Passenger makes his long awaited return in the Group 2 York Stakes on Saturday.

The four-year-old made a fine seasonal return in the Group 2 Huxley Stakes at Chester’s May Meeting, running out a length-and-a-half winner over Israr without really having to break into a sweat.

Entered for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in the first week of October, this is a must win race if he is going to be a contender in Europe’s greatest Flat race.

Danger: King’s Gambit

3.40 Ascot – Sunway (NB)

For me, Sunway is a much underestimated colt and I believe he’s got what it takes to land the Group 1 King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes this weekend.

Winner of last season's Group 1 Criterium International, David Menuisier's horse ran the best race of his three-year-old campaign so far when pushing Los Angeles close in the Irish Derby last month.

Sunway’s long range targets include the Great Voltigeur, the St Leger and the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, so he’s clearly well regarded and he could be the fly in the ointment in this competitive affair.

Danger: Auguste Rodin

4.40 Chester- Ecclesiastical (E/W Longshot)

A Friday night regular at Dundalk Stadium for many a season when trained in Ireland, Ecclesiastical is still doing pretty well for himself since moving over to the Tristan Davidson stable.

A winner of 6 of his 51 starts, the seven-year-old ran pleasingly to finish fourth here a fortnight ago on ground that did not really suit him.

A nice draw and a good jockey (Jason Hart) could well be instrumental in giving Ecclesiastical another course and distance victory here today.

Danger: Count d’Orsay

Horse Betting Tips For Sunday

Steve Mullington with his best racing tips, with a NAP, a NB and a Longshot running at Deauville and Pontefract...

2.50 Deauville – Mqse De Sevigne (NAP)

There’s Group race action at Deauville on Sunday afternoon and the Group 1 Prix Rothschild can go the way of the Andre Fabre-trained Mqse De Sevigne for a second time.

The five-year-old mare will aim to add to her Group 1 tally at Deauville before ending her career with a crack at the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe according to Fabre.

As a four-year-old she registered back-to-back victories in the Prix Rothschild and Prix Jean Romanet, before filling the runner-up spot behind Inspiral in the Sun Chariot at Newmarket.

This year Mqse De Sevigne is unbeaten in two starts with Fabre going down the Deauville route once again with his star mare after she gained the third Group 1 success of her career in the Prix d'Ispahan at Longchamp last time.

Danger: Blue Rose Cen

3.25 Deauville – Apollo Fountain (NB)

I’m really hoping it’s a red letter day for Andre Fabre on Sunday because I really fancy his Apollo Fountain to land the spoils in the Group 3 Prix de Cabourg run over six furlongs.

Runner-up to Wertheimer’s Polyvega at Chantilly, Apollo Fountain made light work of the Listed Prix Yacowlef at Deauville on her last start.

Juddmonte looks to have a nice filly on their hands and she is a big player here.

Danger: Polyvega

3.12 Pontefract – Point Lynas (E/W Longshot)

With any luck Point Lynas can bounce back to form in the Listed Pomfret Stakes at Pontefract this weekend.

A winner of four races from seven furlongs to one mile, he was uncharacteristically beaten ten lengths behind Cicero's Gift when finishing last on his latest outing at Sandown over one mile on the soft earlier this month.

Prior to that he won the Hambleton Handicap at York and placed in the Group 3 John O’Gaunt at Haydock.

He is well worth an each-way play in this Pontefract feature.

Danger: Embesto
