Down The Glen
A tricky finale to solve with several of these expected to kick on this year. Preference is for DOWN THE GLEN, who seems well suited by testing conditions and can defy a 7 lb higher mark on return having put it all together in clearcut fashion at Galway last autumn. Heading up the threats is Gonna Be Golden, who scored second time up at Dundalk in December, with Closely and Boston Benjamin another couple worth keeping an eye on, also.

Nearer last than first in 3 maidens last year, showing a bit more than previously despite finding things happening too quickly at Dundalk (6f) in November. Did well under the circumstances second of 13 in handicap at Navan (1¼m, heavy) just under 3 weeks ago, seeing the longer trip out really well considering how hard she pulled early on. Shaped better than the distance beaten suggested after 4 months off when fourth of 9 in handicap at Cork (1m, heavy) 15 days ago, doing too much too soon. Seems well suited by testing conditions and showed improved form to get off the mark in clearcut fashion back at 7f in 15-runnner nursery at Galway back in October. 7 lb higher on return and fancied to have more to offer this season (has been gelded).DateCourseDistGoingTypePosGalway7fHeavyFlat1/15Bellewstown7f 195ySoftFlat2/11Down Royal7f 27yGoodFlat8/14Killarney1m 30yGoodFlat5/9Naas5f 205yYieldingFlat12/17- 2(5)Boston BenjaminJ: C. Promise in maidens last year and took a small step forward to get off the mark in a first-time tongue strap in 11-runner handicap (10/1) at Dundalk back in February. 8 lb higher returned to turf but this step up to 1m could unlock further progress.DateCourseDistGoingTypePosDundalk7fStandardFlat1/11Dundalk7fStandardFlat11/14Naas7fGood to YieldingFlat4/16Down Royal7f 27yGoodFlat7/14- 6(4)Johnny SodaJ: Adam CaffreyT: Adrian McGuinness, Ireland742-0Age 39/110/18/1

Finished runner-up in a barrier trial before progressing steadily in maidens in the autumn. Ran poorly on handicap debut after 5 months off at Naas (7f, heavy, 12/1) recently so needs to leave that behind (has been gelded).DateCourseDistGoingTypePosNaas7fSoft (Soft to Heavy in places )Flat12/13Dundalk1mStandardFlat2/14Navan1m 40yYieldingFlat4/13Naas7fGood to YieldingFlat7/16- 9(3)Mo Anam CharaJ: R. Clearly learnt plenty from debut and showed much improved form to get off the mark in 12-runner maiden (9/2) at Dundalk (7f) in December. Likely to stay 1m and is open to further improvement on turf/handicap debut.DateCourseDistGoingTypePosDundalk7fStandardFlat1/12Dundalk7fStandardFlat5/14- 11(1)Arctic AssassinJ: J. M. Standout effort so far when 1½ lengths second of 14 to Sovereign Thought in nursery at Down Royal (7.1f, good) last September. Possibly unsuited by conditions at the Curragh later that month and has switched yards ahead of this return.DateCourseDistGoingTypePosCurragh7fYielding to SoftFlat7/11Down Royal7f 27yGoodFlat2/14Down Royal7f 25yGood (Good to Firm in places)Flat6/14Navan5f 180yGood (Good to Firm in places)Flat5/10Curragh6fGoodFlat7/10- 10(8)Divine BelieverJ: R. Showed more than first time up when fourth of 10 in maiden at Cork (6f, good) last June and might have needed the run after 10 months off at this track recently. Highly likely there's more to come based on her pedigree now handicapping upped in trip.DateCourseDistGoingTypePosCurragh6fSoft to HeavyFlat7/12Cork6fGoodFlat4/10Listowel6f 60yGood to Yielding (Yielding in Places)Flat5/6
