Going: Good to Firm
Verdict
Despite her high draw, Rumba Numba is respected for last year's winning stable after her good effort in the Kensington Palace, but this race invariably goes to a 3yo. The hat-trick seeker Crazee Icon and the unexposed improver Wid (second choice) are high on the list, but ANNASTARZY is taken to complete the four-timer. She is climbing the weights but the form of her latest Newbury success is working out really well and the ceiling of her ability may not have been reached.[David Bellingham]

Has completely taken off lately, completing the hat-track when winning at Newbury (7f, good to firm); up another 6lb, but that latest form has been boosted by the subsequent wins of the second and fourth (twice); well drawn and very likely to make her presence felt; yard won this in 2021.- 4(14)Rumba NumbaJ: J MitchellT: R Varian124-15Weight 9st 7lbsAge 411/26/15/1

Defied a lengthy absence when winning at Doncaster (1m, good to firm) last month and then ran a fine race to finish fifth of 24 in the Kensington Palace at Ascot (1m, good to firm), especially as she met traffic; could have been better drawn, but she races off the same mark as last time and represents last year's winning stable; shortlisted.- 11(6)Crazee IconJ: Ray DawsonT: A M Balding-52511Weight 8st 5lbsAge 36/16/113/2

Took nine attempts to get off the mark but now bids for a hat-trick after two wins at Chester (7.5f; soft/good); up another 5lb but still one for the shortlist now that something has clearly clicked.- 14(13)ProposalJ: Saffie OsborneT: W J Haggas542-14Weight 8st 3lbsAge 37/113/26/1

Made a winning reappearance in Doncaster maiden (7f, good to firm) in April, but only fourth of eight when favourite for handicap debut at Windsor (1m, good to firm; started slowly) the following month; has a bit to find from the same mark and is drawn wide; stable won this in 2018 and 2020.- 2(4)Nanino NiyatiJ: Callum RodriguezT: Owen Burrows38-414Weight 9st 8lbsAge 415/27/113/2

Both wins over 1m2f on good to firm ground, the latest a narrow success (on her second start for this yard) at Newbury last month; beaten less than a length into fourth of nine at Ascot (1m, good to firm) 17 days ago; back up 1lb and this sharper track is not sure to be in her favour.- 13(11)WidJ: Edward GreatrexT: R M Beckett7-21Weight 8st 5lbsAge 38/18/117/2

Has progressed in each of her three starts, making all in a Carlisle novice (1m, good to firm) latest; it's not clear how strong the form is, but she is bred to useful and respected on handicap debut despite her high draw.- 9(1)Star MirageJ: J P SpencerT: H Al Jehani232-Weight 8st 8lbsAge 312/112/114/1

Placed in all three starts over 7f late last year, firstly at Kempton (AW) and then twice at Meydan (dirt); clearly has ability, but has questions to answer on turf/handicap debut after 221 days off; market may help.- 10(9)Si GrassJ: S De SousaT: C Johnston2-12Weight 8st 7lbsAge 314/118/116/1

Chased home this season's smart Inis Mor at Newmarket (7f, good to soft) in sole start as a 2yo and did well at Southwell (1m, AW) early this year, winning a maiden and going down narrowly under a penalty in a novice; makes her handicap debut after 167 days off; stable won this in 2024; watch market.- 5(12)Song N DanceJ: D EganT: S Woods11-225Weight 9st 3lbsAge 416/116/118/1

Landed a Leicester novice (7f, good) and a Newcastle handicap (1m, AW) last autumn; solid efforts in her first two starts this term, but was a bit disappointing at Newmarket (7f, good to firm) 17 days ago; drawn high and needs to get back on track.- 12(7)Atlantis BlueJ: L MorrisT: George Baker574-44Weight 8st 5lbsAge 720/116/118/1

3-29, the latest win coming at Lingfield (1m1f, good) a year ago; still 3lb higher and although she may appreciate the return to turf, she looks vulnerable to less exposed rivals; stable also runs Perdy In Paris.- 6(2)ElectrifarhhJ: K ShoemarkT: E Walker1/2-76Weight 9st 1lbsAge 425/128/122/1

Seen only three times since winning a Kempton novice (1m, AW) in October 2024; hasn't shown enough in two starts this season to suggest she will be winning a race as competitive as this, albeit with a hood now given a go.- 3(10)Just Call Me AngelJ: R HavlinT: E A L Dunlop31-170Weight 9st 7lbsAge 325/133/128/1

Has a good strike-rate (4-9) including two Group wins at San Siro (1m, good); twice held since returning to home soil, latest when midfield in the Sandringham at Ascot (1m, good to firm) last month; 2lb drop is not enough to tempt.- 8(5)VixeyJ: Aiden BrookesT: S G West335-82Weight 8st 13lbsAge 625/125/128/1

Won four times last year and was beaten less than a length into second of nine at Chester (7.5f, good; goes well there) 17 days ago; admirable sort, but looks weighted to her best and may prove vulnerable to younger rivals.- 15(8)Perdy In ParisJ: K T O'NeillT: George Baker33-2Weight 8st 3lbsAge 325/120/122/1

Placed on AW in all three starts, the latest when second of 14 in a Kempton maiden (7f) in May after six-month absence; returns from another break and looks a stiff task on handicap/turf debut from 3lb out of the weights.- Non-Runners

Won a Listed race at York (5f, good) as a 2yo, but is 0-15 since and no sign of a resurgence when beating one home on her return to a handicap in the Kensington Palace at Ascot last month (1m, good to firm); drawn widest and makes limited appeal.
