• There are seven active IPL teams
  • IPL owners brought massive investment to cricket and helped the Indian Premier League become cricket’s biggest domestic tournament
  • Seven of the eight current IPL teams have been in existence since the IPL began in 2008

For those who are regularly betting on cricket, the IPL is one of the highlights of the year. The quantity of games in the group stage is comparable to a World Cup – the tournament is as intense as it is engaging.

The riches injected into the IPL have changed cricket forever. International matches are planned with the Indian Premier League in mind and cricket stars are wealthier than ever before, as evidenced by Virat Kohli net worth figures.

IPL Teams 2021 - Guide:

IPL owners come from a variety of backgrounds. When the IPL was first introduced back in the late-noughties, there was a swathe of interest from the mega-rich to get involved with this new competition.

When many saw a fad, others saw an opportunity. The latter have been proved correct as the IPL has gone from strength to strength.

IPL History

There have been 13 IPL seasons so far. It was founded in the late-2000s as a response to the Indian Cricket League (ICL), which was not recognised by the BCCI or ICC.

The ICL was treated as a rebel league, with lifetime bans handed to players who participated.

September 2007 saw the IPL announced. Lalit Modi, who is often credited with the idea, explained how the competition would work, where the funding would come from and how teams could compose their squads.

This moment was obviously met with a blend of scepticism and excitement throughout the cricketing world.

The BCCI claimed this was a long-term plan, and not a response to the ICL. The Indian Cricket League folded in 2008, while the IPL was an immediate success, with the franchises being sold for almost double their combined base prices.

Expansion came after a couple of seasons with Pune Warriors India and Kochi Tuskers Kerala, but neither team hung around.

The league has had its fair share of low points – notably the betting scandal which saw the Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals suspended for two seasons.

Former IPL Teams

There are five extinct IPL teams. The Kochi Tuskers Kerala had the shortest stint in the competition, surviving just one season after joining as part of the 2011 expansion.

The Kochi-based franchise finished down in eighth, resulting in group stage elimination. Bickering between the owners meant the franchise did not pay their 10% bank guarantee in 2011.

The board of the IPL made multiple efforts to contact them with no response – in September 2011, it was announced the team had been terminated and their players entered the auction.

The Deccan Chargers are the best-known of the extinct teams, having won the competition in 2009.

Deccan had stars including Adam Gilchrist, Kumar Sangakkara and Dale Steyn, but the franchise dissolved in 2012. Financial troubles could not be overcome and there was no suitable bid to buy the franchise.

Pune Warriors India, like Kochi, arrived in the expansion. They hung around for two more seasons, but they folded in 2013 after a disagreement with the league over the annual franchise fee.

It wasn’t a successful spell in the IPL either, finishing in the bottom two in each of their campaigns.

When Chennai and Rajasthan were banned for two seasons, Rising Pune Supergiant and Gujarat Lions stepped in. The two new franchises competed for the 2016 and 2017 seasons, with Rising Pune losing the 2017 final by one run.

Most Successful IPL Team

The Mumbai Indians have topped IPL betting odds in recent years and with good reason. Mumbai has won the tournament on five occasions, four of which have come in the last six seasons.

Chennai Super Kings are the only other franchise to have won the IPL more than twice – Chennai last won the competition in 2018 and fell to the Indians in the 2019 final.

Captained by Rohit Sharma, coached by Mahela Jayawardene and with arguably the best white-ball bowler in the world in Jasprit Bumrah, Mumbai is set up for further success.

Widely considered the best T20 team ever, the Mumbai franchise have been home to stars aplenty, including Sachin Tendulkar, Lasith Malinga, Harbhajan Singh, Mitchell Johnson and Ricky Ponting.

IPL 2021 Auction

The 2021 IPL auction will take place on February 18th. All eight franchises have already announced their lists of retained and released players.

Ben Stokes and Pat Cummins, two of the most expensive players in IPL history, were among the stars retained by their respective teams.

The Rajasthan Royals, home to Stokes, also retained fellow England stars Jofra Archer and Jos Buttler. Rajasthan had a disappointing IPL in 2020 – the Royals will be active in the 2021 auction.

Plenty of big names are up for grabs in the 2021 IPL auction. Steve Smith, Aaron Finch, Glenn Maxwell and Nathan Coulter-Nile are just four Australian internationals who will be available.

Moeen Ali, Jason Roy, Tom Banton and Tom Curran are all hoping to be picked up, too.

IPL 2022 Teams

Late in 2020, the IPL AGM approved two new teams for the 2022 season.

This would take the competition to a 10-team format again (which it was briefly earlier in its existence) – there are thought to be at least four ‘corporate giants’ interested in owning a franchise.

At this stage, there’s limited information on the potential new teams. This will likely mean an increase in the number of matches, which could throw up logistical issues, and it will be interesting to see where they are located.

Given the continued success of the IPL, expansion presents a great opportunity for players all over the world who might have previously missed out.

  • Love Island is a popular reality TV show, with contestants coupling up in a bid to find love and win the £50,000 cash prize.

  • First held in 2015, Love Island has gone from strength to strength – with 4 million people tuning in for the 2020 Love Island final.

  • Punters betting on Love Island can follow the villa antics six nights a week.

Love Island is one of the biggest reality TV shows around, with millions of fans flicking over to ITV2 six nights a week at 9pm. It is one of the most popular reality TV betting markets.

Traditionally held during the summer months, Love Island 2020 took place in the winter – with the show filmed in South Africa for the first time.

Love Island 2021 Tips:

From ITV confirming the Love Island contestants to the famous Love Island water bottle, we have you covered on everything you need to know ahead of Love Island 2021.

Here, we look through the most important Love Island tips, with Love Island cast odds and rumours, as well as the history of Love Island betting.

Love Island History:

Love Island originally aired for two seasons in 2005 and 2006 but that was not Love Island as we know it, with celebrities taking part instead of members of the public.

The present version of the show started in 2015 and Love Island has evolved from a cheesy concept into a genuine attempt at finding a future partner.

Many couples have defied the Love Island odds and have made their relationships work on the outside – with some even getting married and having children together.

Over 4 million people watched the opening episode of series 4 while 4.7 million tuned in for the first show of season 5. Love Island is showing no sign of slowing down.

The latest series of Love Island received mixed reviews, with various factors contributing to a slight drop in viewing figures compared to season 5.

However, when Love Island tips return ahead of the new series, you can be sure the show is going to receive plenty of interest in the traditional summer slot.

Love Island Villa:

The summer Love Island villa is something to behold, with breathtaking views of Mallorca in all directions.

69 cameras follow the Islanders around throughout their time in the villa, though couples can win a chance to spend an evening in the Hideaway away from the others.

The Love Island Beach Hut is an interview room, which is often used for Islanders to discuss any events of the day – including Love Island challenges and relationship gossip.

A new villa was introduced in season 3, with producers shaking things up by choosing to split the group in half, with one set heading to Casa Amor and the others remaining in the Love Island villa.

The winter villa is located in South Africa and was introduced for the sixth series of Love Island in January 2020. While still magnificent, Love Island odds suggest that the traditional villa is slightly better…

Love Island Winners:

Punters looking for Love Island odds to win should consider backing the favourites, though it is important to consider all contestants – especially as the show progresses.

Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague were viewed as a certainty to be crowned Love Island champions but they were pipped at the last minute by Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea.

A complete set of the Love Island betting results can be found below:

  • Series 1 – Jess Hayes & Max Morley

  • Series 2 – Cara De La Hoyde & Nathan Massey

  • Series 3 – Amber Davies & Kem Cetinay

  • Series 4 – Dani Dyer & Jack Fincham

  • Series 5 – Amber Gill & Greg O’Shea

  • Series 6 – Paige Turley & Finn Tapp

Love Island Presenter:

Laura Whitmore is the current presenter of Love Island, having accepted the role ahead of Love Island season six.

Whitmore is one of the most experienced names in reality TV, presenting the I’m A Celebrity sister show and appearing as a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing.

The Irish beauty was chosen to replace the late Caroline Flack, after she stood down ahead of the sixth season.

Flack will forever be remembered for her impact and influence on Love Island and the show wouldn’t have been a success without her.

Although not a presenter, Iain Stirling is known as the voice of Love Island, with his witty humour commenting on the latest ongoings throughout the villa.

Love Island Contestants 2021:

The Love Island cast changes every year, with contestants having to go through an application process in order to be selected to appear on the show.

Each potential Islander must send in a video tape application, explaining why they would be a great fit to feature on Love Island.

A limited number of Islanders enter the villa on Day 1 before others join the show at various stages throughout the competition, with Casa Amor a key moment for the Love Island cast.

The Love Island cast 2021 has been officially confirmed! You can find a list of the Love Island contestants this summer here:

  • Sharon Gaffka – Civil servant

  • Aaron Francis – Model and luxury events host

  • Liberty Poole – Waitress and marketing student

  • Hugo Hammond – PE teacher

  • Shannon Singh – Model

  • Jake Cornish – Water engineer

  • Kaz Kamwi – Blogger

  • Brad McClelland – Labourer

  • Chloe Burrows – Financial services marketing executive

  • Toby Aromolaran – Semi-pro footballer

  • Faye Winter – Lettings manager

Love Island Betting Odds:

As is the case with Strictly Come Dancing tips and other reality TV shows, Love Island winner odds will be available ahead of the upcoming series.

Make sure to follow the latest Love Island rumours in the coming months and tune in to ITV2 to follow your Love Island betting selections!

  • Peter Crouch is a former footballer who has become a prominent footall pundit

  • Crouch had a lengthy Premier League career, featuring for Spurs, Stoke, Portsmouth and others

  • The 6’7 striker was an England international – he scored 22 goals in 42 appearances for the Three Lions

Peter Crouch has walked the well-trodden path from football star to celebrity. Crouch, a well-liked footballer, has become a popular podcaster, pundit and all-round television personality.

It’s a while since Crouch was a factor in football odds. Despite earning 42 England caps, he was often underrated as a complete striker.

A career which led to a couple of Premier League records and a long stay in the top flight came to an end in 2019 after a short stint with Burnley.

Peter Crouch Net Worth:

The Macclesfield-born centre forward is best remembered by sports betting fans for his time just south of his birthplace with Stoke City.

Bet Calculator

Crouch spent the majority of his career in the Potteries, though he enjoyed a true journeyman career, playing for 11 different clubs from Dulwich Hamlet to Liverpool.

Once at the most successful club in England, and now all over our television screens, here’s everything you need to know about Peter Crouch.

How Much Is Peter Crouch Worth?

Peter Crouch’s net worth is somewhere between $25 million and $35 million according to CelebrityNetWorth.com.

Crouch featured in 19 different Premier League seasons – he will have accumulated a healthy salary over his playing career, though his weekly pay check will have been far from the dizzying heights of Paul Pogba and David De Gea’s earnings in 2021.

Crouch has appeared as a pundit on Amazon Prime, BBC and BT Sport. While his salary for these roles is unknown, it’s unlikely to be anything close to his salary from his playing days when he was earning millions a year during his peak.

Compared to other big-name footballers, Crouch was not the most marketable. He has never been a regular on TV adverts and billboards, but he will have received considerable payments from his partnership with Puma.

Peter Crouch Podcast

Peter Crouch’s podcast is inventively called ‘That Peter Crouch Podcast’. It is a BBC production, which has been running since September 2018.

On the BBC website, the podcast is described as, “Peter Crouch, Tom Fordyce and Chris Stark bring you their guide to being a professional footballer.”

It has become one of the most popular football podcasts around. Crouch’s profile has grown significantly off the back of it – his trademark sense of humour and refusal to take himself too seriously shines through.

The podcast has already hosted some high-profile guests, none more so than Prince William. Sean Dyche, Louis Theroux, Liam Gallagher, Theo Walcott, Tony Pulis and many others have joined Peter, Tom and Chris to discuss all things football.

Peter Crouch Wife

Peter Crouch is married to Abbey Clancy. The couple’s wedding was in 2011 following their engagement in 2009. They had been dating since 2006.

Crouch and Clancy have four children together. Sophia Ruby is the eldest, and was born a few months before their wedding in 2011. Their second daughter, Liberty Rose, was born in June 2015.

Their two sons were born in 2018 and 2019. Crouch and Clancy have often featured on television together, including in Save Our Summer on the BBC, which aired following the cancellation of Euro 2020.

Peter Crouch Height

It’s safe to say Crouch was not the fastest football player even in his pomp. That doesn’t matter too much when you stand at 6’7, though.

Crouch is one of the tallest players in Premier League history – few other outfield players have broken the two-metre mark.

While he was far more accomplished than being a pure target man, Crouch’s teams often resorted to lumping it long to him. He was, of course, a huge threat at set pieces, too.

Crouch’s 53 headed goals is the most in Premier League history, and five more than Alan Shearer.

Almost half of Crouch’s 108 Premier League goals came from his head – his tally of 108 is good for 25th all-time. Crouch scored more Premier League goals than Didier Drogba, Paul Scholes and Matt Le Tissier.

Peter Crouch Book

Peter Crouch has released multiple books. The first of which was called ‘Walking Tall: My Story’. This autobiography came out in 2007 – little did we know at that point that the lanky striker had another decade-plus left at the top of the game.

‘How To Be A Footballer’ was Crouch’s second book, released in 2018. This was followed up by ‘I, Robot: How To Be A Footballer 2’ in 2019. His third post-retirement book is scheduled to be released in 2021.

His books have been well received for the most part. ‘How To Be A Footballer’ rates 4.6 out of five on Amazon with nearly 3,000 reviews worldwide.

The follow up has the same rating from fewer reviews, and was awarded Sunday Times Bestseller.

The Daily Mail was very complimentary. “You can dip into this book anywhere and will find delights: all football fans aged from nine to 90 will love it.”

More will be revealed about Crouch’s third book in the coming months, but it’s sure to be another popular read.

Peter Crouch Twitter

The author of viral tweets aplenty, Peter Crouch is a popular figure on Twitter. His verified account, with the handle @petercrouch, has over 940,000 followers at the time of writing.

Crouch’s Twitter account is every bit as light-hearted and self-deprecating as his podcast. He’s a must-follow for any fan of Premier League football.

Peter Crouch Robot

Peter Crouch first treated the world to the robot in an England shirt. Crouch broke out the dance after scoring against Jamaica in 2006, and it quickly became an iconic moment in his career.

Wearing the red and white stripes of Stoke, Crouch brought the robot back to celebrate his 100th Premier League goal.
