A relatively new name in Leeds United transfer news, Norwich City star Todd Cantwell, has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Elland Road outfit.

This update comes from transfer journalist Nicolo Schira, following reports of Leeds’ interest in Cantwell recently. The midfielder didn’t play for the Canaries at the weekend, furthering speculation he could be leaving Carrow Road.

As covered by 888Sport, The Athletic’s Phil Hay was sceptical a move would go through only a few days ago, but this latest news from Schira will give Leeds fans hope that Cantwell is on his way.

Schira, tweeting from his personal account, said, “#Leeds are in advanced talks for Todd #Cantwell. Offered €18M to #Norwich. The midfielder has agreed personal terms with #LUFC.”

Cantwell is a versatile midfielder. Marcelo Bielsa would appreciate how he can slot into any of the midfield roles and play on the flank if required.

With Michael Cuisance on his way, Leeds could be spending around £40 million on these two midfielders before the window shuts in a few days’ time.

Cagliari Rule Out Leeds Moves For Star Players

Leeds have been linked to a couple of Cagliari players this summer. Midfielder Nahitan Nandez and striker Giovanni Simeone have both been on the Whites’ radar, but Cagliari’s chairman has ruled out a transfer for either player.

Quoted in tuttomercatoweb, Tommaso Giulini said, “Both Nandez and Simeone are players that Leeds like, but these players cannot go out in the last few days because we would be weakened. It’s too late now, there wouldn’t be time to replace them.”

It’s rare that a high-profile club official will specifically mention a club which is pursuing its players. The suggestion from this could be that Nandez and Simeone want to move to Leeds, and this is Giulini’s method of telling them they’re not going anywhere.

Regardless, with the signings they have made, Leeds should not be bothered about missing out on Nandez and Simeone, particularly if they can get deals for Kerk, Cantwell and Cuisance over the line.

Winger Chase Confirmed

Football Insider reports Leeds have made a breakthrough on two signings worth £35 million. One of which is the aforementioned Cantwell. It’s claimed the clubs have continued to negotiate since Leeds made a £15 million bid last weekend.

Notably, Norwich are happy to sell their prized asset for the right price and Cantwell, like so many others this offseason, is excited by the prospect of moving to Leeds.

The report also states Leeds are hopeful of acquiring a winger before the deadline. Ryan Kent is no longer an option – Gyrano Kerk appears the most likely player to fill that berth.

The Premier League is widely regarded as the greatest division in club football. Playing at the highest level of English football is considered an honour.

Scoring a Premier League goal is even better – particularly if you are a young player trying to break through on the big stage.

Youngest Premier League Goal Scorers:

  1. James Vaughan

  2. James Milner

  3. Wayne Rooney

  4. Cesc Fabregas

  5. Michael Owen

  6. Andy Turner

  7. Federico Macheda

  8. Raheem Sterling

  9. Mikael Forssell

  10. Danny Cadamarteri

Football betting odds were against these youngsters scoring on the big stage. While some failed to live up to the hype, others went on to enjoy successful Premier League careers.

Without further ado, it is time to look at the youngest goal scorers in Premier League history. Could we see one of the stars of 2020/21 break into this list?

10) Danny Cadamarteri

Making only his third Premier League appearance, Cadamarteri scored for Everton in the 4-2 victory over Barnsley at the start of the 1997/98 campaign.

He is considered something of a football journeyman, having played for a number of clubs across the top four flights of English football.

9) Mikael Forssell

Forssell scored the opening goal for Chelsea in a 3-1 victory over Nottingham Forest having moved to Stamford Bridge ahead of the 1998/99 season.

Unfortunately, he failed to hold down a regular spot in the Blues squad, leaving on various loan spells. 20 years later, he still sneaks into the youngest goal scorers list.

8) Raheem Sterling

A world class prospect, Sterling developed a reputation at Queens Park Rangers before he was snapped up by Liverpool in February 2010.

Two and a half years later, he scored his first Premier League goal at just 17 years old. He is now a key figure for Manchester City and is one of the first names on the teamsheet.

7) Federico Macheda

Macheda’s story is the stuff of legend. Trailing at home to Aston Villa with an hour gone, Sir Alex Ferguson chucked the 17-year-old on and hoped for a moment of magic.

The Italian produced a sensational finish in injury time to secure a vital three points that would help Manchester United secure the Premier League title.

6) Andy Turner

Turner set a new Premier League youngest goal scorer record when he got his name on the scoresheet for Tottenham Hotspur against Everton back in September 1992.

Unfortunately, Turner made just 20 appearances over a four-year period at White Hart Lane before yo-yoing around the echelons of English football.

5) Michael Owen

Owen had a lofty reputation as a youngster and he lived up to his early promise, notching a spot on the Ballon d’Or winners list in 2001.

The Liverpool starlet scored on his Premier League debut at just 17 years old – Owen would go on to become one of the most prolific forwards in world football throughout his career.

4) Cesc Fabregas

Another player who has thrived at the highest level of the sport, Fabregas was just a young boy when he made his Premier League debut for Arsenal in September 2003.

He scored for the Gunners when he was just 17 years old and he would enjoy success at some of Europe’s top clubs, including but not limited to Chelsea and Barcelona.

3) Wayne Rooney

Rooney sent shockwaves across the football world when he scored that goal in Everton’s 2-1 victory over Arsenal in October 2002. It would be the sign of things to come…

That strike came the day before his 17th birthday, making Rooney the first player in Premier League history to score as a 16-year-old.

2) James Milner

Just two months after Rooney’s strike, Milner became the youngest player to score a Premier League goal. At the time, he was also the second youngest player to play in the division.

Milner is a Premier League legend, having racked up 540 Premier League appearances. Now with Liverpool, he is a three-time title winner and deserves the utmost respect.

1) James Vaughan

15 years on and Vaughan’s record as the youngest Premier League goal scorer still stands. He was just 16 years old when he scored against Crystal Palace on his Everton debut in April 2005.

He never really cut it at Premier League level though and found himself moving around the different tiers of English football.

A Dutch journalist has become the latest to report of Leeds’ interest in FC Utrecht winger Gyrano Kerk. Kerk has been a daily feature in recent Leeds United transfer news.

De Telegraaf reporter Jeroen Kapteijns claims Leeds are in deep negotiations for Kerk. He also notes, however, that Utrecht’s position has been strengthened by the sale of Sean Klaiber to Ajax, a transfer that AD reported is almost done.

Klaiber will cost Ajax £4.5 million. That’s a sufficient fee for Utrecht to dig their heels in over the £9 million they want for Kerk. Kapteijns, tweeting from his personal account, gave this update.

“The bonus millions for Klaiber (around 5 million) offer FC Utrecht the space to stick to the asking price of 10 million euros in the negotiations about Gyrano Kerk. No fewer than four clubs compete for his hand: Leeds United, Cagliari, Hellas Verona and Fiorentina.”

Leeds clearly face considerable competition for the 24-year-old. With the end of the window nearing, Kerk appears to be their main priority in the forward positions.

Moves for Ryan Kent and Harry Wilson are unlikely to happen this window – Kerk is a much cheaper alternative than the pair, giving them flexibility to make other moves.

Cuisance Move Comes On The Back Of Injury Blow

Leeds’ move for Bayern midfielder Michael Cuisance is likely to go through in the next few days.

Marcelo Bielsa has been happy to operate with a small squad throughout his career, and the decision to push through a deal for Cuisance comes as a result of some disappointing injury news.

Adam Forshaw has been riddled with injuries over the last 12 months or so. He hasn’t taken the field since September 2019, and Bielsa doesn’t appear to be confident Forshaw will return in the near future.

His absence leaves them a bit light in midfield, which has resulted in the pursuit of Cuisance.

The young Frenchman is going to be a first-teamer on his arrival at Elland Road. He’s not coming in to be a depth option (as that’s part of the reason he wants to leave Bavaria), and it will be interesting to see which midfield role Bielsa prefers him in.

Medical On Wednesday

According to Telefoot journalist Julien Maynard, Cuisance will have his Leeds medical on Wednesday.

Maynard tweeted, “Michaël Cuisance is expected tomorrow in England to pass his medical examination and to engage with Leeds. The game project proposed by Marcelo Bielsa convinced the French community. Bayern Munich set to hit nearly 20m €”.

Cuisance could cap a wonderful summer of transfer business for Leeds. Much of it inspired by Bielsa, who has worked wonders in convincing players to join the club.
